New License: The Miracles of Namiya General Store

NEW YORK, NY (3/4/2019) – Yen Press, LLC announced today the acquisition of the international bestseller The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by acclaimed author Keigo Higashino in a deal negotiated through the Chandler Crawford Agency and the Tuttle-Mori Agency.

Originally, published by Kadokawa Shoten in 2012, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store is the story of three delinquents who hole up in an abandoned convenience store after their most recent heist. When, to their great surprise, a letter drops through the mail slot in the store’s shutter, the three find themselves assuming the former proprietor’s role of offering advice, through the lens of time, to those seeking it.

Imaginative and inspiring, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store was met with immediate accolades upon publication, winning the prestigious 7th Chūōkōron Prize in Japan and has gone on to sell over ten million copies internationally. The novel has been adapted into film twice – first in Japan, directed by Ryūichi Hiroki, and again in China by Emperor Motion Pictures where actor Jackie Chan starred as the titular shop owner.

Keigo Higashino is one of the most prolific and successful authors working in Japan today, with numerous awards to his credit, including the Mystery Writers of Japan Award and the Naoki Prize. His Detective Galileo series is published in English by Minotaur Books, and the translation of The Devotion of Suspect X was nominated for an Edgar.

The Miracles of the Namiya General Store is slated for a release on September 18th, 2019 both in hardcover and digitally.
