ANNOUNCING THE SECOND ANNUAL YEN PRESS TALENT SEARCH!!!
Create a SELF-CONTAINED, 32-page short story comic.
The proportions of each page should be approximately 1 : 1.5. (Think of a standard Yen Press book. As long as the proportions are close, the actual size of the page does not matter, and we will not answer questions regarding specific page sizes.)
Your story must read left-to-right.
You should include a space for your title and name (pseudonyms okay) within your work.
Please do not recycle a short story you have already completed. We would like to see the work you are able to complete within the time frame allotted.
The subject matter of your story is up to you. Be creative!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
Any UNPUBLISHED creator who is prepared to work at a professional level is encouraged to submit.
You may collaborate, but please specify each individual’s role in the project (writing, coloring, art, etc.).
Webcomic/self-published creators are welcome to participate.
International creators are eligible.
WHAT TO SUBMIT:
Send a clean photocopy/printout of your completed story (no original art, please) to the address below:
Attn: New Talent Search
237 Park Ave., 13-114
New York, NY 10017
Talent Search submissions will be accepted by mail only and must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2012. Creators of interest will be contacted by April 30, 2012.
Be sure to include your contact information (name, address, phone, e-mail).
Yen Press cannot be held responsible for notifying each creator that his or her packet has been received. If you are concerned about your package’s arrival, we recommend you opt for a tracking number when you send it in.
If you are an aspiring comic creator, the Yen Press Talent Search is a wonderful opportunity to put your work before an editor who is specifically looking for new talent. This is NOT a contest, and while we hope to find creators ready to produce professional work, there are no “winners” and only professional-level works will be considered for possible publication. Even if you are not contacted in the end, you can be proud that you have challenged yourself to produce a finished, complete work, which you can add to your developing portfolio.
If you are a published professional, you may submit your portfolio for consideration after reviewing the details under the Contact tab at http://yenpress.hbgusa.com.
*Those submitting to Yen Press retain all rights to their work. Nothing will be published without the consent of the creator. We ask that creators not post their work to the web prior to April 30, 2012. Only artists/writers of interest will be contacted by Yen Press.
