New Licenses Announced at NYCC

Another convention season has come and gone, and we were thrilled to see so many of you at New York Comic-Con last weekend. On Saturday, we held our annual industry panel and announced several, exciting new licenses. Here’s what’s new and upcoming from Yen Press!

Void’s Enigmatic Mansion, based on the novel by JiEun Ha with art by HeeEun Kim relates the tales of the tenants of a mysterious house whose wishes may be granted though not always with the results they had hoped for… Serialized monthly beginning in October 2013, each chapter will be released in English digitally simultaneous to the Korean publication from Haksan Publishing

Ani-Imo by Haruko Kurumatani is the first of three new licenses representing the beginning of a licensing relationship between Yen Press and Kodansha in Japan. When sweet and docile Hikaru swaps bodies with her beloved twin brother, Youta, her personality does a complete 180, and she starts taking brotherly affection to a whole new level! Will Youta ever get his body back?! This gender bending comedy debuts in 2014.

He’s My Only Vampire by Aya Shouoto is a seductive paranormal romance that demonstrates that love can have a way of coming back and biting you – in the neck! It’s a lesson that Kana Takachiko learns all too well through her relationship with Aki, her childhood friend and pureblood vampire!

From the pen of the master of Gothic suspense, Kaori Yuki, comes Demon from a Foreign Land, a period fantasy steeped in black magic. When Sorato is orphaned following an earthquake, he quickly becomes ensnared in the dark secrets of the estate that becomes his new home. Demon from a Foreign Land will be released in hardcover editions starting in 2014.

Fans of QuinRose’s Alice series have reason to celebrate with the forthcoming release of the Alice in the Country of Diamonds ~Wonderful Wonder World~ Official Visual Fan Book! Packed with illustrations, character profiles, creator interviews and manga, this book will be a must-have for any collector’s shelves.

High School DxD, the manga adaptation of Ichiei Ishibumi’s fan favorite light novel with art by Hiroji Mishima, promises to be one of the most anticipated new manga releases of 2014! When angels and demons collide with Hyoudou Issei, a libidinous high schooler, caught in the middle just about anything (and everything!) can happen…

If you guys get any more licenses from Kodansha, I highly reccomend “Princess Jellyfish”. I don’t get why no publisher has picked up that title, yet.

I was hoping on the light novels of DxD 🙁

Can you license it if the numbers are good???

If only they licensed the DxD Light Novels, still having my fingers crossed.

Oh, a partnership with Kodansha, huh? Interesting…

Definitely picking up High School DxD when that comes out and will probably give Ani-Imo a try too.

I am SUPER excited about Void’s Enigmatic Mansion! I would love to purchase a physical copy of it when it comes out =D Kim HeeEun is one of my favorite Korean authors, so I’m SUPER excited to see her with Yen Press =D It’s super awesome that you guys get to do simultaneous releases with Haksan too, WOOO! THANK YOU YEN PRESS!

When I read High School DxD I thoght it was the light novels you guys had licensed but Im still buying the manga and who knows maybe that can make you guys consider to license the light novels as well.

Richard J.

High School DxD is a definite buy. Probably going to get Ani-Imo and He’s My Only Vampire if budget permits. About 90% of all my manga purchases are Yen Press now.

lol, you get an extreme ecchi series, and the rest of them are shojo’s, a complete 180 in the licensing this time YP.
hopefully the new relationship between you and Kodansha JP will lead to some previous Del Ray US series getting re-licensed by you, meaning Yozakura Quartet

really glad that you got the rights to Highschool dxd, but im really wanted you to release the light novel…. 🙁

Looks like I better prepare my wallet, Between Highschool DxD, Demon from a Foreign Land (read online seems interesting) and the upcoming releases of spice and wolf and Btooom I dont think I’ll be able to handle manga coming from Kodansha as well! haha. Looking forward to it guys, keep em coming.

I have 1 last request, speaking of Kodansha no one has picked up Mari Yamazaki’s “Steve Jobs” biography, yet. YP would be perfect for that title because, you give it such a quality book treatment like with “Thermae Romae” (I can’t wait for the release of volume 3, btw)

Hoping that you guys at Yen pick up the license for Kuragehime~! Its a great series and kodanshausa is too nervous about licensing a josei title. Hopefully your new relationship with Kodansha can get it published in the US.

DXD manga is good news because that will increase sales and then boost season 3 announcement for October 2014 yeah

Does anyone know when in 2014 yen press will start releasing the manga?

Ohhh shiney shiney, even more to buy now good job YP. If your with Kodansha now any chance of seeing Coppelion? what I’ve read so far its seems like a great scifi manga.

Then I realize this is the yennpress website. Crap.

Seriously though, I don’t want you to license the Light Novels (DxD). Wait till the series is over! Or do you really want to license and translate the words “Oppai” all the time?

I’m waiting for the DxD light novels as well 🙁

And Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere would be highly welcomed too

One more hoping for the DxD light novel. Most fans of the series seem to prefer it over the manga.

I personally will get the both if you license the both.

Mister Luck

Those who want the Highschool DXD light novel to be licensed and want to reassure YP it’ll succeed here, rather than saying you’ll buy it. Is to buy there recent light novel licenses which are Accel World and Sword Art Online. So in other words talk with your money.

DxD is a definite buy for me!
I would also love to see the light novel!!

Will grovel for OPPAI!!!

and i’ll pick up sword art online too, ok.
Cheers guys!

It would really be nice if you could publish the light novels of High School DxD too there are many people out there waiting for it 😀

Dengeki Bunko Fan

Since you picked up a bunch of Dengeki Bunko light novels, and plan to continue, I alongside many vouch to pick up the Toaru Majutsu no Index Light Novels, please. 🙂

have been eagerly awaiting Pureblood Boyfriend/He’s My Only Vampire/Junketsu + Kareshi. I love this series and can’t wait to purchase your publishing’s of it. (*^*)

I have been waiting to see if Kaori Yuki’s newest work Iiki No Ki (Demon From A Foreign Land) was ever going to be published in the US, and today I find out not only is it being published but will be released in hard cover books. My wallet is dying right now but my brain is screaming at me to preorder every flipping one of them. I can’t wait to find out the release dates!

Star Light

I can’t wait till the Alice in the Country of Diamonds ~Wonderful Wonder World~ Official Visual Fan Book comes out!! Thank you yen press

Shoujo Lover

I absolutely love Aya Shouoto works so when yen press is translating one of her works “He’s My Only Vampire” I almost died of happiness!!!!

I’m looking forward to the manga of Highschool DxD but I was really hoping that the light novel would have been published too

When is He’s my only vampire volume 4 going to be released? I really would like to read chapter 18… And in English too…. I just want an estimate of a date
